WEDNESDAY 23RD NOVEMBER TABLE TOP/CRAFT FAIR AT "THE CLOCK", KNARESBOROUGH
26th September 2011
Nearly 3 months since I last posted here - am not going to say anything, as I am always commenting on how fast time passes.....but it DOES!
We are now heading for Halloween, so if you are looking for costumes and having problems, get in touch. Just contact me.
Before we know it, Christmas will be upon us, so it's never too soon to start thinking about party gear. Don't forget, I have a large quantity of evening dresses, new, used and vintage. I have ben so busy that I have not been able to update pictures and things for sale. Have a look at my Vintage Secrets & Other Things page, but if you don't see anything, it's always worth getting in touch as I may just have something that isn't listed yet. For Vintage stuff locally also check out Riot in Knaresborough and Space and Sissy Jupe in Harrogate. Also Discover Vintage in York.
With celebrations on us soon, if you are holding an event or having a bit of a do, and you need some live music, check out my partner Simon (who doesn't just do Jazz!) and the Eugene Farrar band.
Talking of music- I do a neat line in band waistcoats!!
Well I will sign off now and say again, as I did in July - enjoy the sunshine which we are assured is here for the week. Pity about August!
1st July 2011
Prom season is now over, with a small sigh of relief as I have been drowning in a steady supply of chiffon and beads! Currently very busy with weddings, so now I am drowning in satin and beads! Approaching the Holiday Season, for myself as well as my customers. You may have noticed that I am going to be closed for almost a month; sadly I am not holidaying for all that time. I am accompanying Katrina Hughes Dancers on a tour of Spain for 12 days at the end of July and have had to close before then in order to get the costumes ready. Although it will be a bit of a working holiday, I still enjoy it: a change being as good as a rest as they say.
It is sobering to think that by the time I return people will already be thinking about their winter wardrobes, although I'm still wearing some of mine. Next time we talk I will be thinking Halloween, sobering thought.
Okay, take care everybody, enjoy the sunshine.

Doesn't time pass fast! and I can guarantee that it really does pass faster the older you get! So Valentine's Day has been and gone and I do hope all you lovebirds got everything you deserve. We are now into Prom planning time, so if you have bought your dress on the internet, from China, (because let's face it - they are cheap) you may find that the fit isn't that brilliant. Please, come see me as I can probably do something about it. Just make an appointment, with no obligation, and I will give you my honest opinion as to what can be done. Most jobs turned around inside a week, but the impossible may take a little longer.
Waistcoats are in high demand at the moment, so don't forget that I do them to order at very reasonable prices - just contact me with your requirements.
11 February 2011
I find it hard to believe that we are almost half way through February and I have only just removed my Christmas Greeting. Now we are heading for Valentine's Night with posh frocks and candlelight. This is a welcome highlight in what can be a very dreary month, but apparently we do have lots of bright colours to look forward to in this year's fashion. So dig out your 70's gear and bring it along for updating. Let's live the Make Do and Mend philosophy.
My apologies to all those people who were disappointed last week wanting quick alterations. I was immersed in preparations for a Dance Show at the Royal Hall, Harrogate. Produced by a local Dance School - Katrina Hughes School of Dance & Performing Arts, and a fantastic show it was too. Things are returning to normal here and I am no longer drowning in a sea of organza and sequins! So if you need your trousers shortening I am back on the usual 2 day turn-around.
February also marks the date for the next Vintage Wedding Fair at the St George Hotel in Harrogate. Sunday 27th is a must see date for your diary. For more information go to the Vintage Wedding Fair website. Hope to see you there!
